Comment: I like to back a database file on one of our server. This database file is always "online/open" or in used by other users in the network. My normal procedure to back-up was to stop the database (early in the morning) because simple back-up utilities would not allow me to backup an open/currently in-used file even to cut/copy and paste the file I cant do it if the database is still running. Is there a way to backup a database file without stoping the program? How? Is there a utility that would "snapshot" the file? thanks.

Reply: (edit)You might consider researching Backup exec.8.5 as the backup package included with Win 2k pro is rather thin on open files backup.
