Subject: Help ! Can't open Excel filesOS: Win 2000 ProfessionalCPU/Ram: Celeron 800, 128 RAM |
Comment: My OS is Win 2000 Professional,Office XP.Now I can't open any Excel files by clicking excel files icon from file folders, everytime the erro message comes up like this"Can't find the file name. Make sure the path and file name are correct and that all required libraries are available". I can only open excel files by opening Excel programm first and then open files from the menu in it. Can anyone help me to fix the problem? Thanks

Reply: (edit)Go into your control panel, then folder options (or do this in explorer) and make sure that files with a .xls extension are set to open with Microsoft Excel

Reply: (edit)No you do need to reinstall. Can you open your files from Excel? You probably need to change the way .xls files are opened. The program may be correct but you need %1 after the programname.

Reply: (edit)this is a very easy fix. Launch Excel, go to Tools, Options. Click on the General tab and take the checkmark out of "Ignore Other Applications". It will work just fine after taht.
