Comment: After I typed in my user name and password, authentication passed and the "loading setting..." dialog appears. After that the "saving setting..." dialog appears and I got back to the alt-ctr-del dialog window. I can't login at all into windows 2000 pro. However, my laptop is multi-boot, I have a windows 2000 server and windows 98 installed on the same laptop. If I login to windows 2000 server, I can see all my windows 2000 pro directories. Is there any way I can change any file to login to windows 2000 pro?

Reply: (edit)Possibly re-install W2K and choose the 'upgrade current OS option'; do this via a CD boot or the 4 floppies approach. This may/should restore everythng OK and allow you a normal log-in? It's possible a standard W2K repair routine (CD/floppies boot) would also allow; but I'd be inclined to the 'upgrade' route.
