i am working with a win2000 advance server with RAID 5. i edited some policy then i got an error message. Active directory failed when i reboot. Message says i need to restore the AD, but i haven't go any tape device at all. So no backup to restore!
Recovering data in the AD is of highest priority. Can anyone tell me what steps should i take?

Do you have another DC? If so, you can make a backup of the AD db from that server and manually put it on the other server.

BTW- even if you don't have a tape device, you should always back up your info to a drive.
