Harddisk is getting Disconnected

Hi,
I have win2k server installed in a PC with two harddisk connected in it. Both the Harddisks are NTFS partitioned. Now one of the Hard disk drive is getting disconnected very often and throwing the message "Unsafe removal of Device" as if a USB device is unplugged from the system. In such situation i will have to restart the system to reconnect the Harddisk drive. Due to which i lose the data very often. Is this the problem with the Harddrive or with the OS (Win 2k Server)
