hal.dll error

my computer wont boot. the error says windows root>\system32\hal.dll file missing. i dont have the xp disc because the computer came with xp on it. so can anyone send me this file thanks

hal is hardware aplication layer and is usually very unique to the machine so a version form someone else would not boot it up. Can you get to the screeen where it says to press F8 for more startup options, if you can try safemode or run a rescue disk
