Subject: Group's in Win2k dont work |
Comment: I have approx 900 users in a windows 2000 adv. server network. I have Windows ME clients (mostly). My problem is that I have a policy file (config.pol) which I am trying to set restrictions for a group on the network. For example I have a group named "Tier3", I want users that belong to group "Tier3" to have barely any access at all (they are trainees). How is it possible for me to do this? I have added the group to the policy on WinME, but it doesnt seem to affect users that belong to this group. I'd add the users manually, but thats approx 200 users that i'd have to add to the policy and restrict individually.... Any ideas?

Reply: (edit)It sounds as if you've only created a local policy on the ME workstations. (It is not possible to apply policy settings to specific users, only to groups of users) If you want the restrictions to apply to a global group, you must use Active Directory to create a group policy.
