Group Policies vs. Default User

Just created a Group policy, linked it to an OU with a group and a user. I then logged on as that user on a Win NT WS, but the settings for the user profile were taken from the local computer's Default User. How can I force the computer to take the Group Policy when logging on as a user in the domain? Or do the Group Policies for Win 2k not work when logging onto an NT WS? Thank you, Amber Ries
