Yes you can do it just as you say. Through Group Policies. I can't explain how Group Policies work here but look through you GPO settings and you will see the section there to set the proxy settings on the clients.

There's a couple of settings that I set when configuring a new PC for my company.

Do you already know how to creat group policies? If not, post back, otherwise, here's where to find the settings

In group policy:

Local Computer Policy - Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Componants -Internet Explorer - enable "Make proxy settings 'Per Machine'rather than 'Per User'" This setting makes it so you don't have to reassign the settings each time a different user logs into the machine.

Local Computer Policy - User Configuration - Windows Settings - Internet Explorer Maintenance - Connection - Proxy Settings. (You can define the proxy settings here)

Local Computer Policy - User Configuration - Windows Settings - Internet Explorer Maintenance - URLs (you can set your default home page, ect, here)

You can explore a bit in this section to find other settings you might like!

No problem!

Click on Start, then RUN. Type in MMC and hit Enter

This will open up a blank Console Root. At top menu, click CONSOLE, then Add/Remove Console to open the Add/Remove box. Click ADD button to open the SnapIn box, then choose Group Policy, then the ADD button, then FINISH. Click Close on the Snap-in box, then OK on the Add/remove box.

This will bring you back to the Console ROot screen, and it will have Local Compuet Policy there.

You can expand this like you would in Windows explorer, or Regedit, and get tot he threads I listed above.

GL and post back!

Uggh, you have been a great help and I found everything, one more question, where in the (make proxy settings per machine)policies do I put in the IP address for the proxy server and how does this information populate out to the users web browser?

HAHAHA I am a dumb ass, it was in your previous post, thanks for all your help mate, I am going to test it out now. Is their anything I need to do client side or is this it? Do I need to force the policy to update now some kind of way?

LOL glad I could help =)

Sorry I haven't replied... needed to get me some lunch!

Actually, when I make the settings on my PC, they take affect immediately, without having to apply either of those settings. I leave them both as "not configured" and it works fine.

Of course, I only have done this on client computers, haven't any experience doing group policies on the server side yet...
