Hello there, I have a windows domain with a single DC, I added a new domain controller, transfer the role RID, PDC and Infrastructure to this newly added DC, I then removed the first DC, now the problem is whenever I create a user, it says global catalog server is not available Kindly help how to promote the new DC as Global Catalog Server Regards Rajeev

That was a major mistake. Not only should you have a minimum of two DC's as recommended by Microsoft but there are FIVE FSMO roles and you only transferred three of them. See here to fix this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255504
