Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help. I have been trying for the last two days to ghost an image of a hdd to another hdd. These are both on the same machine. I created a ghost boot disk. It runs fine but the problem is when it comes to selecting the hdd i wan to ghost from the list menu its not there neither is the second hdd. I am a bit confused by this because if i reinstall windows they are both there alive and well.
Any suggestions would be gratefull.

One of the problems is that Ghost runs in DOS. So if the drive you are trying to create the image on is NTFS it won't see it. It will however see an NTFS drive to create the image from so I'm not sure why it won't see the first drive.

Hi I used Ghost but got tired of the mountain of CD.s I was accumulating: particularily when the transfer glitched on the fourth or fifth disk and made all previous disks unusable.
For simple HDD copies I now use a program called HDCOPY. This is by a German guy called Zimmerman and is (or at least was) a free download. once installed transfer is a quick two or three click process and involves no CDs. You can Google it but make sure the version you download is the English version as the original is naturally in German which is OK if you are comfortable in German.
Hope this is useful to you. Cheers Stewart

Bit of a wit....half to be precise.

Thanks guys but i managed to do it in the end, by replacing the cd drive with the hdd and it worked fine. I still cant get it to ghost an image to a partition to right it to a cd so i can make a boot cd because i have about 150 machines ghost and it will make life easier.Thank Stewart for that program, managed to find it. I will try it and see if it works quicker. Thanks, Horatiu.
