Comment: Hey all, I made a backup image of my OS partition of a spare PC using Ghost. I was using the system to test out some trialware applications. After which I tried to restore the Ghost image. After the restore the OS boots to the login screen but keeps going back to the login after entering the login. Norton version 9. No hardware changes have been made to the system. Any ideas what I have done wrong? Cheers Eoin

Reply: (edit)Sounds like a corrupted user profile. It can't load the stuff upon login, so it dies and kicks back out. Try booting in Safe Mode and if possible, try a different user account. If that doesn't work, slave the drive to another system and rename the user account profile within "C:\Documents and Settings". Then when you log in it'll build a brand new user profile...

Reply: (edit)Hey I've encountered this problem before when ghosting from IDE to SATA raid arrays. All that was needed was to rewrite the MBR with FDISK. fdisk /mbr - this may not be the same situation however :)
