I'd like to know if its possible to stop icons appearing in the system tray.

Mine has too many things it it at the moment. What I'd like to do is be able to remove the tray icons but leave the programs running, stuff like seti for example. I want it running in the background but I don't want to have a pointless icon sitting there in the bottom corner of my desktop cluttering up space.

Is this do-able?

My ignorance, should have know it was win2k. I use the MSCONFIG.exe file from '98se to take out any icons in the tray. You will receive errors when you execute the prog about the autoexec.bat, config.sys, etc., just ignore them. All you have to do is uncheck the progs you don't want in the tray, reboot, and they'll be gone.

Forgot to tell ya, put the msconfig.exe file in the WINNT\system32 directory and execute it from the START/RUN window.
