I have a VIA chipset motherboard with an AMD Duron. I just switched my video card to a Geforce DDR from my Voodoo 3 2000. Whenever I try to play counter-strike it freezes on opening of the game. My whole computer is locked up. I have tried many things. Any suggestions?

Probably you were playing in Glide mode. Now you should play in OpenGl. Try

...\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -game cstrike -gl -gldrv default
