What is the best way to set up an FTP server with a dynamic IP address through DSL? I registered for a free DNS server that can update my IP address on a website. My problem is now setting up the server. I have a program that makes one, but it has to use my local IP address, not the real one, and I can not access it from outside. How do I get the server to use the real IP address and be accesible from anywhere?

You need to provide us with the name of your FTP server. They all vary in configuration and we have no way of knowing what you are using.

Oh, sorry. Well, I had searched Download.com, and the best (and only, actually) free on I could find was called War Daemon. But if you know of a good free one, then by all means tell me.

Try going to dnsalias.org. You can use a dynamic DNS server through them. Then download DirectUpdate client. This will keep your IP address assigned to the correct domain name
