Comment: I am setting up an FTP server running on windows 2000 using IIS. The server will be used for remote users to connect and retrieve files we have stored on another fileserver. So, when users connect, the files they need to retrieve are actually stored on a mapped Drive via samba. The problem I have is, in order to use samba in WIN2k, you need to enable plaintextpassword in the registry. When I try to authenticate in IIS, it appears to not take the username/password. has anyone been able to allow users to connect to a samba share from an FTP site they set up? If not, is there another solution other than the IIS, such as a better FTP server program? Any help would be great, hopefully without needing new software. thanks

Reply: (edit)No, there is no domain set up. It allows you to enter just a username and password to authenticate to the remotes server, Mainly so that the user can access the network shares without knowing the real username and password for the remote server. I think I may have to give up on this, as I have tried several FTP server programs and nothing seems to work. Gotta love samba.....
