I bought a laptop that had xp on it and has some operating errors on it, I donot own a copy of XP and didn't get one with it, but i do own a copy of Win2000Pro and went ahead and formatted the HD and put on 2000, but i cannot get on the internet so can get all the updates 2000 has to offer, if i goto the Compaq Presario 730US, it says that i looks like it was only for XP and no drivers are avalible for the 2000 OS on this laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you should go back to where you bought the laptop and demand an installation CD for Windows XP along with an up to date license number.

I believe it's illegal to sell a new computer without an install CD for the operating system - it certainly is in BC, Canada.
