The computer seems to be freezing right before the login screen comes up, it just sits there. I have tried to reboot in safemode and the same problem arises in safemode.... anyone have any ideas? The computer gets through the splash screen but right before the username/password screen comes up it freezes just before that point.

Well, the damn harddrive is corrupt so that is what was causing all the problems chkdsk located around a thousand bad sectors or so.. However, I was able to boot to the harddrive with BartPE and salvage my data.
