Comment:

i installed an update for IE from windows and on the reboot, the computer froze after windows was loaded. the second reboot resulted in start up errors that were eventually "remedied" by a clean reinstallation of windows. the system will begin the start up process, but now feezes on the "starting windows 200" page, with the windows 200 logo. it just sits there, not loading anything. what might be my problem? thanks.

Did you make an ERD when you installed? Have you tried replacing the system hive?

Install Red Hat Linux 6.2 availaible free in this months Australian Personal Computer Magazine. It's a great operating system, never crashes and you can kiss all your problems goodbye. Also included is Suns Star Office. Sorry but Windows 2k suffers from too many problems.
