Freeware to print directly to a printer

Is there any freeware that can print directly to a printer( without passing through the printer driver) ?

Hope u understand my requirement.

The only thing I know of is the dos copy >lpt or copy >prn commands, but it only prints ascii text and is used to output simple text files or the dir to a line printer. And even it uses a basic printer driver.

How would a program know how to format the output without a driver? How would a printer know what to do with the signal coming in to it without it being interpreted first by a driver?

If You want to print on ANY PostScript capable printer from within Windows, You need of course use a rinter driver for that , too.

Try the most generic type which is included within the Windows drivers base:

Apple Laser Writer.

I use that for example to print using LINUX server as a print server.
