I formatted my disk due to any issues. when i am trying to insatll win 2000, it says invalid disk. if i boot with floppy, it does not recognize the cdrom drive. hence i cannot go there and install.

use your boot disk and select load with cdrom support. At the a: prompt type in setup (with the win2k disk in the cd rom of course) If it doesn't install try e: setup. If you remember the drive letter for your sc rom use on letter above that for example if your phsical cdrom is drive D then type E:setup. It will move your cdrom drive ahead one letter when you load with cdrom support.

Using a win98 boot floppy: start the computer with the floppy disk in the drive. Select #2 to start with cdrom support. At the prompt A:\> type D: to get to the cdrom drive. At the prompt D:\> type cd\i386 and press enter. When you get to D:\i386> type winnt to start the w2k setup.

You're saying that the drive had been formatted. To reinstall windows2000 use the 4 boot disks and put the windows 2000 cd in the cd ROM reader. Restart the computer and it should read the floppies one after the other.... If you don't have the 4 boot disks, go to http://www.bootdisk.com/ and make yourself a set.
