Hi all,

Really confused. I have a laptop with win2000. I dont have admin. rights on the machine so I want to format the drive and start over with win98 as I am not computer savvy and dont need win2000 as I am not on a server anymore. How can I reformat the drive? I have used a boot disk but the book disk wont let me access the c drive if I boot off it. How can I ensure the computer will recognize the new OS since I have to take the HD out and put it into a laptop in which I have a CD ROM (I dont have a CD ROM on this machine - long story).

Thanks1

Download a W98OEM boot floppy from www.bootdisk.com and fdisk/format ie remove all partitions etc and start afresh, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;255867.

Copy the contents of the W9x CD to a folder on hard drive, then boot from boot floppy and install from the folder (ie SETUP and press enter)

oh, I think ur disk format is NTFS so after booting from win98 bootdisk partition C is not available. To handle this problem u can use some convert software such as "partition magic" to format disk. Another solution is to install winxp home edition from cd-rom, after installation u can access almost all resource in the disk.
