I was working on my computer for about 45 minutes and then the screen went black, then a blue box appeared and said "shut off mode in 5 seconds, and then I couldn't turn my computer on for about 15 minutes. It is running again now but I am worried about it doing it again. I was working with Adobe Pagemaker and hotmail at the time it shut down. If you have any suggestions it would be much appreciated. Thanks John

Hi John.
The firs thing I would suggest is run AD-Aware, if you dont have it , download it on the net. also run a program called Trojan remover. once you know you have no spyware, then we can start looking elsewhere. Have a nice day John.

Yeah, I am not at it right now, but the computer shuts down before the bios boots up so I really doubt it is spyware or a trojan since they are booted up in the OS. I ran a pandascan. I really think that the internal battery might be dying on it but I wasn't really certain of how to check on that. I was writing this for a friend of mine who explained it for me but now that it has happened to me as well I am really thinking it is the battery. If anyone has any information on the battery, and how much/where I could get that fixed or how to tell please tell me. Thanks

The batteries are sold at RadioShack, Compusa, Best Buy and others.

They about the size of quarter, cost under $5 and I believe that the number is cr2032.

But you can pull the battery off the mother board to check it and when you put it in, it goes + side up.
