I have a win2000server domain with folder redirection through group policy. I will log into one of the client computers as a local admin, when i log out i get the folder redirection synchronization status information box, and its asks me to enter a username and password to connect to the server to complete this synchronizing.

Why am i getting this when i am logged into a client computer as the local admin?

When it asks me for the username/password to complete this synchronization, i just hit cancel and it will just log off like i originally intended.

Because you're trying to synchronize to a Network drive.

but the local admin of the client computer is not part of the OU that the group policy is aimed at! so why is the admin trying to synchronize?

I am not logging into the domain with the local admin account on the client computer!

isn't this were you would normally put folder redirection? on a network drive?

the point is you have a group policy in effect that automates file sync but you logged in locally so there is no server connection to sync to.

its not the admin trying to sync it's the group policy trying to sync.

so what can I do?

Its a User GPO, the local admin is not one of the users.

what do you think the problem is?

should this be happening? is this normal?

I am 100% sure i have the gpo set up correctly.

It's a Local Computer Policy. I don't think it can be done through a GPO, but maybe someone else can answer that for sure.
