folder option, won't open in same window

Though I have the folders option, browse folders set to open all folders in the same window the OS is opening a new window for all folders/files. It worked properly until Adobe Photo Deluxe which has since been removed. What to do to get the folders option working properly

Try this from My Computer AND Windows Explorer, just for good measure... Go to Tools>Folder Options>View and clear the checkbox for "Launch Folder Windows in a Seperate Process" Click "Apply" Hold down CTRL+SHIFT, and then click the X in the upper-right corner of the My Computer or Explorer window. Re-open the window. When you open another folder from this window the settings you use "should be" retained.
