Running Win2K Pro... i installed office 2000 awhile back... i recently uninstalled all of office via add/remove... uninstall was "successful", but when i go into windows explorer the "microsoft frontpage" folder remains. when i try to delete the folder manually I get the following error "shared file violation source file may be in use" and i am not able to delete it. I do not have any shared features enabled. this is what blows my mind... i completly format my hdd, leaving no signs of an os then re-install windows everything is wiped of course leaving a clean install EXCEPT that "microsoft frontpage" folder (which is empty) again this is after formatting my entire hdd leaving no os and again i get the same error when trying to delete the folder. even more mind blowing... since the error stated that the file was being used i decided to start in "safe-mode" to try to del the folder - success! the folder is deleted. after the folder is deleted i format my hdd once more... no os... i re-install windows and THE MICROSOFT FRONTPAGE FOLDER IS THERE ONCE AGAIN!!! HOW CAN THIS BE WHERE DID IT COME FROM?!?! yes i have to much time on my hands :P thanks, richard

Try an FDISK. If you have any partitions, FDISK will get rid of these, so back up your stuff. Start the computer with a boot disk, and type FDISK. Follow the prompts and then reboot again to the floppy and format your HD using format c: /u Hope this helps, I am on ICQ 11454335 -Scott

are you sure this is not part of frontpage express, which is part of win 98-2000 O.S's

when u restart, and it says fress F8 for setup - press F8 and goto setup; goto that 'directory service something' and than u can get command prompt, delete file/rename whatever from here... k let me know if this helps nsn

my sympathies, friend. i am in the same predicament as you. installed office 2k on windows xp, and then used system restore to remove, which sometimes does not remove the installation folders under program files. i could remove the office folder ok, but this darned frontpage folder just wont go away. also tried removing it via safe mode. something is placing it back in. chuck is correct it may be part of the os.

Stop formatting your drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That folder is placed there by Win2k. It has nothing to do with any application (including office)that you have installed. If you delete it, windows recreates it. I dual boot with Linux, and I've used Linux to delete not only the frontpage folder, but also outlook express, and netmeeting. Each time I reboot into windows the folders reappear. I'm still looking for a way to stop the force-feeding but haven't found it yet.
