Hey Everyone,
I have a question regarding a company laptop. The tech people there didnt have any idea without me having to ship my laptop in...
Basically, the company I work for utilizes a DOS based program that we utilize via parallel port.
As of now, whenever I go into this program, I make a selection, and it shuts the comp down immediately.
When I boot it back up I get a quick blue screen (just before loading to desktop) and the only thing I can see is something about "this driver may be" and then "flpydisk.sys". And it just keeps restarting from there.
Now just to get the comp to boot up, I disabled "Legacy Floppy" something or other via BIOS.
The odd part about all this is I don't even have a floppy disk installed. Just a cd burner/DVD drive.
I don't know if the Dos program and this error are related, but I don't know what else to do.
The most confusing part about all of this is my friend from work is having the exact same problem.
I know this is a tough one, but does anyone have any ideas?
Any info you may have would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Peter

flpydisk.sys is a M$ file related to floppy disk access, as you state that the DOS software is accessed through the parallel port, I would surmise that the parallel port is emulating a floppy drive controller.

First re-instate the Floppy in BIOS, second undertake a search for flpydisk.sys , it is usually found in:

c:\winnt\system32\drivers\
or
c:\windowst\system32\drivers\

The following refers to XP but W2K is similar:

Try disabling the printer port in the bios or switching from ECP to EPP or vise versa. Also, check your event viewer for any clues. It's probably a crappy driver. I would also install Windows 2000 Update Rollup 1 for Service Pack 4 if it isn't already.

This might not have anything to do with it, but I would also check IBM's site for an updated bios. Laptops bios' are rarely updated.
