Firewall ignorance

This may sound like a juvenile question, but, what would the perks be of putting a firewall up on my laptop (which runs off the wireless router in my house)?

Have a look at this site, it also talks about routers http://www.firewallguide.com/software.htm I use ZoneAlarm, free version, and SpywareGuard and the computer is as tight as it can possibly be.
