Hi everyone. I have a file, prx.exe which I am unable to delete. When I go to delete I am told it's in use and cannot be deleted. When I then go to task manager to shut it down I am told access denied. But I'm the administrator. My big issue with this is that I have no clue what the file is and it connects to the internet. How can I get rid of this file? Thanks

you need to find out which service or device is using that program and stop the service or remove the device. right click on the program file prx.exe and look at the property sheet, there may be some useful info there. if not you can try searching google and the ms knowledgebase for prx.exe and see what comes up (may give more insight as to what service/device uses that program).

good luck!

Most of what i find on the net seems to point to a backgate trojan.
Try these links.

http://www.trojanscan.com/trojanscan/scanner.htm

http://www.pandasoftware.es/activescan/

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/

Try this link also. Its a prog to replace msconfig that win2000 doesn't have.

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

since win2000 does not have msconfig...from this program you should be able to uncheck the prx.exe from the startup tab.

Good luck, let us know how you make out.
