Comment:
Dear friends,

I want some help regarding following error:

We have main PDC as windows 2000 server with SP-4,& While i am trying to make ADC on windows 2000 Server with SP-4,I am getting following error:

The operation failed because:

The Directory Service failed to replicate the partition CN=Configuration,DC=domain1,DC=domain2 DC=org,DC=in from remote server nagrodc.domain1.domain2.org.in.

"The replication operation encountered a database error. "

What is the possible resons of that ?
Microsoft help pages tends to some hotfix ,but it is not avilable there.

Waiting for your response..
Regard
Aatish

There is no such thing as a ADC. W2K has DC's only of which one can hold the FSMO role of PDC EMULATOR.

On first look the domain1 and domain2 would lead me to think;
1. you have really created a child domain
2. your dns naming is messed up

When you dcpromo the W2K box you have a choice of new or add to existing domain. Choose add to existing.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
