F1 to reboot - Dell cpX500

I have a dell cpX500 Laptop. Everytime i turn it on it says press F1 to reboot and when i do nothing happens it just keeps saying 'F1 to reboot'. I have been told its due to hardware failure or something to do with the keyboard! If anyone can help id be most grateful!

try to get in to the BIOS and see if there is something wrong there. IF not, check to make sure all and everything is connected and set in right as far as hardware. Let me know
