Comment:

Is it normal to have a pagefile.sys of 768 MB and a hiberfil.sys of 511 MB?
I don't mind it using the space, but I was just wondering. It seems very large in a system with 512 Meg of Ram.

That sounds about right for the swap file. The maximum size should be 1 1/2 times the size of available memory.

Your hiberfil.sys is for your Hibernation. It has to be as large as your memory so it can store all the info in memory when you turn the system off.....

Turn hibernation off (Control Panel, Power), defrag, then re-enable it. It probably won't let you delete the file (I've never tried) but turning hibernation off will get rid of it.
