An error log is being created." This seems to be explorer.exe problem and whenever i open any window like double clicking My Computer , above error message appears. I have copied explorer.exe from another machine but this doesnt solve the problem. Does anybody know the cause and remedy of this problem . Thanks for your help in advance. Learner

Reply: (edit)I get the same message when I boot my Windows 2000 PC. It automatically brings up several of those messages, along with a "cannot write to memory" message, but nothing seems to be running in the background, according to the task manager. This started when my wife updated the MSN Messenger. I uninstalled a ton of stuff, including MSN Messenger, and tried to replace the explorer.exe. I even tried doing a Windows 2000 emergency repair, but nothing seems to work. It boots up to the desktop fine, then the explorer.exe error message pops up and continues popping up about every 7 seconds. I am resigned to just rebuilding the system from scratch, but would like to know if there is another solution if this pops up again.

Reply: (edit)I'm getting the very same message. Explorer, Control Panel. My Computer, start-settings-Printers, Virtually ALL Windows' prime functions use 'Explorer.exe' to run, therefor, whenever I try to access any of these, I get that same error message & half the time it then comes uo with the 'Restore Sctive Desktop' screen. My suggestion for a solution would be to replace the disfunctional 'Explorer.exe' file with a functional one, ie: from the CD, or even from someone elses computer running under the same O/S - unfortunately, I have neither at the moment - so I'm stuck here online searching for someone who does or another suggestion... good luck!
