This may occur when Explorer tries to read from registy
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{BCF96FB4-5F1B-497B-AECC-910304A55011}]
The solution is to delete this key from registry

Seems like a spyware app.

This article will tell you how to remove it including the BHO's (Browser helper objects) to remove as well.

Yeah, but that's only if you've installed the two programs discussed in that KB article.

Another app that could cause this problem is WS_FTP. Remove it & clear the registry of WS_FTP and IPSWITCH.

If you're concerned about deleting that registry key, just rename it. I usually just stick an "X" in front of it,
like X{BCF... If that fixes it, then you can delete it.

You can also trying "Launch folders in a separate process" by checking it off under Explorer's Tools>Options>View.

Finally, stop explorer in Task Manager, start a new task CMD and rename explorer.exe to explorer.exx, reboot. I haven't tried this, but it's supposed to build a new shell. This should be the last step to take before wiping and rebuilding your system.

Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me, Skywalker.
