Someone please help. I recently put Win 2000 on my computer. Initally everything seems to work fine. Then all of a sudden, every time I hit a key (any key) whether it's in the IE browser typing in a url or simply pushing the delete key on my desktop Explorer will crash and give me an error messge that it will shut down. Initially I had Explorer 5.0 and upgraded to 6 and even went to Add/Remove Programs to try and repair Explorer neither of which worked. Basically my computer would be working perfectly if you didn't need a keyboard to do anything whatsoever. I'm not sure whether this is the result of a virus or bug. Can someone please tell me what I can do to resolve this. I would greatly appreciate it.

Just to follow up...I have an IBM Deskstar 75GXP 60 Gig hard drive. I had some problems with it before and had to reformat it. Is there any way this explorer error could be due to the hard drive. I've read about lots of people having problems with this drive.

Do you have KazaA installed on your computer? I know of this being one program that runs in the background and gives you this exact error. You can use the mouse and everything just fine correct? Try this, right click on your desktop and create a new text document. Open it up, and type in there. You don't get this error now correct? This takes IE out of the picture, also list the programs you have running in the background (i.e. ctrl+alt+del "Task manager")
Also, download all of your critical updates. Start>Windows Update... Many people are quick to jump to something being a problem, yet never perform the steps to prevent them in the first place. Let me know what you get..
Good Luck

Hi Brian,

You're right. It was Kazaa. I would never have attributed it to that. You're a life saver. My question now is...is it possible to run Kazaa without generating these errors. It's not a big deal cause at least my computer works now. Again many thanks.

Yes, download the latest version of KaZaa. There is a fix for it.

Latest version of Kazaa works good on my win2k pro, no problems.

TIP => Search for the kazaa no banners crack with the dummy cd_clint.dll file to remove kazaa's annoying popup ads and flashy banners all over the place so that the new version doesn't drive you insane.

Is there a more recent version/release than 1.7.2? I am running 1.7.2, which was downloaded a week ago, and it still produces the same IE and Explorer problems.

Hi all,

After reading more into the problem, I've found out that it's a conflict between McAfee and Kazaa. The solution (which is what I did) is to uninstall Kazaa and download Kazaa Lite. Now my computer is running with no problems. Hope this helps.
