Recently my house was hit by lightinging, nothing major but it seems to have ruined a lot of electrical equipement in my home.
Because of this hit, I can't seem to access my internet. At first I thought it was the ISP but then after checking things out I found that my COM1 and COM2 Ports were not working.
I read a help guide that came with the modem I recently bought and it said that if there is a yellow circle with a black exclamation point on your COM1 and COM2 the motherboard needs to be checked.
Now what I want to know is where, within the BIOS, should I look to see the COM ports and what I need to do to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your modem got toasted. It's happened to me alot because I live on a hill and Lightining always strikes close by. If you have another one handy, that would be a good place to start.

Ok. So you think I should try replacing it first before doing anything else?
Are you sure that it can't be the motherboard or you are not sure?
