we currently have windows 2000 small business server with exchange 2000 small business server.
Our exchange server currently uses microsoft POP connector to download email from our main mailbox every 15 minutes.
I want to change email so when someone externally sends an email it is picked up straight away,
I have read about having a MX record pointing to our router but do i need to upgrade exchange or windows to remove the POP connector?

Using the MX record to point to the server is what Exchange is designed for. You won't need to upgrade Exchange or Windows to remove the POP connector.
