Hi.Our server running Exchange 5.5 is about to be retired.I need to install Exchange 5.5 on another server and replicate the info from the old server to the new server.I know that during the installation process i can specify to install another server to an existing site but there is more to it than that. Can anyone give me more info or point me in the direction of a document detailing this procedure? Most of Microsofts info focuses on Exchange 2000.
Many thanks all.
Steve.

Its easy,
Set up another server and then start the exchange installation, when prompted to connect to another exchange server say yes, and it connects, all the details appear, everything,
so what you have now is a multi site mail domain,
site a master site b slave,
what you can do now is, start moving mailboxes and public folders across, very simple task, pull up the prop[erties of the mailbox click advanced, where it says home server change it to the new server and it will be copyed across, dont worry about the people using the mail systems as it does it without down time,
for the public folders i set it to replicate between the two sites so that i had like a load balancing thing going on, once it was all synced up, just started moving the public folders as well,
thats the mail accounts and public folders,
i cant remmber if you have to redo the connectors (imc ect) or not, but now you have moved all the accounts, you can take the other server offline, if you need to recreate the IMc thats no problem better than building the whole thing from scratch,
hope helps
