Hi,
While trying to troubleshoot another install I was introduced to "Event Viewer". The only problem is that my "Event Viewer" also does not appear to work properly. Events seem to be logged, however when I double-click on individual records nothing happens (ie, they don't open). What's more, when I right-click on an event log and select 'properties' the dialogue box just says "No properties are available for this object".
Does anybody know why this might be happening? Is it possible that some files on my system have been corrupted?
If anybody could shed any light at all I would really appreciate it!

I recently had something on my win2000 machine start acting a little funny...
I ran adawareSE and it found a few items and removed them and the problem went away....
Might be another thing all together, however starting from the basics.
1. run your antispyware tools and check for nasties...
2. run your antivirus app
3. empty temporary internet files. and all offline content.( this should probably be first.)
4. after all else if you still have the problem .. run sfc /scannow
from device manager Right click my computer>manage>device manager, check for the exclamation marks and or ? marks....
If you do reinstall drivers...
