my desktop will not boot up, and i'm suspicious that it may be a result of a surge though my ethernet line.
i turned on my system about 5 weeks ago for the last time, powered it down sucessfully, and unplugged the tower and monitor, though i left the ethernet line plugged in. it was unused for about 4 weeks, though significant modifications to my ethernet service were performed, including a partition of the network, etc. i turned on the system about a week ago, and it failed to boot. i'm not reading anything on the monitor, no BIOS, and i get repeated beeps from the Asus motherboard, which indicates "No DRAM installed or detected". Any idea what might be fried? Would it be limited to the ethernet card, or could the surge have damaged the motherboard, other cards, RAM, HD, etc.? Any ideas on how to test if certain components may be fried? I built the PC myself about 3 years ago, and i know it pretty well, but i'm not an expert at trouble shooting, so any step-by-step help would be much appreciated.

Hi, Have you tried reseating the RAM?
Also try removing the "Faulty Ethernet card" and starting up without the card?Do you have alot of dust around?
Remove Cards dust them and reseat them. also dust the motherboard.
Good luck
