I formatted a computer and backed up the drivers using the tool from driversguide.com. the modem drivers seemed to be backed up fine and the install went fine but i keep getting theses 777 errors (modem wont connect). as well as this there are two ess PnP audiodrive devices that have the yellow ! icon in device manager (meaning they are not installed properly). I initially thought the ess devices were sound cards or something but now am wondering if they have something to do with the modem. I have tried some ess sound drivers with them to no avail. the big problem is getting online...device manager says the motorola internal modem is working properly. It wont communicate with with the isp, though. any ideas appreciated.....From Paul

what a bugger you did'nt note the name of the modem driver (and audio )before you formatted. Internal modem should have a part number stamped on it and then go to Motorola drivers site to get them, do same for audio driver. If for some crazy reason you cannot locate driver for modem then try a generic driver in the windows native driver database. If your lucky it will work.
Don't know how experienced you are Paul but most computer fiddlers can do the above, if not its off to the local computer shop to spend some dollars.
