Comment:

My Win2K server takes a loooong time to boot up. When it finally gets to a desktop, I get the following Service Control Manager warning:

"At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details."

When I look at the event viewer, I see the following errors:

1. No adapter is configured to be the default adapter. Appletalk was not initialized on any adapter. Services over AppleTalk e.g. Print Server, File Server etc. will not be functional unless a default adapter is specified.

2. The Remote Storage File service hung on starting.

3. The Remote Storage Engine service depends on the Remote Storage File service which failed to start because of the following error:
After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state.

Not being a very advanced Win2K user, I have absolutely no idea what to do about these problems. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Do you have macs on your network? #1 refers to loading the appletalk service. If you don't need it uninstall it.

the other two relate to remote storage. Might want to look here for more clues

Thanks for the advice! With the help of reading that article on microsoft.com, I got rid of 2 of the errors by uninstalling Remote Storage (we don't use it anyway).

Regarding the Appletalk...we don't have Macs now, but someday we might. All I had to do was enable AppleTalk by right clicking on Network Places, going to properties of my LAN connection, and checking the Appletalk box.

Thanks again! Your info is much appreciated.
