I have tried a number of times to re-load Cyberview X, the driver for the Pacific Image PF3650 film and slide scanner, but always get the message: "Error number 0×8002802B, Descrition: Element not found". I am then expected to press a button marked "OK" when, clearly the situation is anything but OK.
What does the message mean and what must be done about it please?
Due to the effects of spyware or a virus, I was obliged to reformat my hard disc and re-load everything, including Windows 2000, from scratch. I had no difficulty with any of this until now and Cyberview X is the only software with this problem, even though it ran perfectly well previously.
The only hardware change is an increase in memory from 96 to 512MB, which I think is unlikely to be the cause.
Thank you for any advice.

Is the scanner a USB unit? If swo the installation routine may be different than what you have tried. If possible, follow the instructions for the scanner. some want you to start installing the software and then connect at a time when prompted. Failure to follow the corect procedure can result in the issues you have.
Is the scanner showing in Device Manager?
What Service Pack do you have installed?

It is a USB device and, you are right, it is only to be connected and switched on after installing first Photoshop Elements then Cyberview X. I have been careful to do this; in fact I have not reached the point when the scanner is to be connected. Remember this all worked at one time.
The version of Cyberview which has to be loaded first is 1.06. I have version 1.18 on a separate CD but this can only be loaded on top of 1.06 as an update.
