I receive this error message when trying to backup DacEasy Accounting for DOS (16-bit)to a network drive, also the file is being opened form a network drive under Windows 2000 Professional "An application has attempted to directly access the hard drive, which cannot be supported. This may cause the application to function incorrectly, choose Close to terminate the application.

Do you get the same error when backing up to a floppy?

Anyway, it's quite possible the DOS application is not compatible with win2000, you'll typically get an error such as yours.

as a matter of fact that is exactly what happens. DOS is not fully supported under win2k, it is rather emulated. Thus you may not directly access HD in DOS. For the same reason, you can not play some games under W2K
