My system is a Compaq Deskpro PIII 7333 with 512 MB SDRAM, 10 GB hard disk. OS is Windows 2000 w/SP2. It does not have a connection to the Internet. The problem is as follows:-
I have an asf file which reports the following error when attempting to play it in Windows Media Player version 9, 'The audio codec identified by the format tag 75 is required to play this file.'
I have downloaded and installed the Nimo Codec Pack to no avail. I tried the Full Install, followed by the Basic Install and finally a Custom Install selecting only the Audio Codecs.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get around this problem? The .asf file plays fine on another PC (which has a connection to the Internet) but it did need to download a codec from somewhere!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Nick Bestwick

You can try to change the file type to something else like .mpeg and .avi or something by renaming the extension if possible, or you can try to convert it to a different file type that does work with some type of file converter.
