Hi. I'm trying to dual boot windows98se and windows 2000 pro. i have 98 installed now and when i try to install 2000 into the unpartitioned space it tells me that my hard disk is damaged. So i came back onto 98 and checked out my file system and its fat32. i know windows 2000 uses ntfs but i also know it uses fat32. Any suggestions?

my email is ishotbambi@lycos.com

Perhaps there is indeed a problem with the drive. Are you sure it doesn't have any damaged sectors?

Yeah, you should scan the disk sectors and if that doesn't work try reformatting.

I had a problem like that trying to install 2000 on my system. I had to just reformat the partiton and it worked although i did it in ntfs. Shouldn't be a difference

well if you are dual booting it is best to have seperate partitions for each OS so use fdisk to make a partition for 98 and then install it when you go to 2k you will see the partition. and also unpartitioned space chose this and then format it with whatever filesystem you want

I would partition and format some of that space, maybe 2GB, with w98.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

For win2K, I would partition at least 5 to 10 gig for installation using NTFS.
