ERROR C0000218 registry file failur

I have a pC with AMD800/256K RAM - OS W2K Advanced Server.
I receive during startup: a blue scree with message: C0000218 Registry file failure \systemroot\sytem 32\config\software : missing file or unacceable/corrup file.
I can not access the drive anymore nor restore the file. Can somebody help me. How should I proceed. (without installing all OS and software or is that the only option?)

Trying pressing F8 at startup and choosing Last Known Good Configuration and see if you can get it and failing that try Safe Mode to see if you can get in and find out what the problem is in event viewer.
