Hello,

I'm running Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 with no troubles till recently. Now I get the following message whenever I start Firefox (the pop-up is entitled "Internet and Dial-up Connections"):

Error 623: The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection.

IE6 is able to launch its dial-up program, dial out and connect. I've found several "solutions" online that don't work. I have read Microsoft's recommendations and they advise unchecking a box in VPN stating dial another connection first or something. However, I have no connection like this.
I'm using standard dial-up, with a 56K Winmodem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The system is trying to dial a connection that doesn't exist.

Go to 'internet options' in control panel, connection tab, and select 'never dial an internet connection'. Works for me as I use dsl. Not completely sure if you use dial up but try that first. If not try selecting other options here such as dialing the default connection.... But try the first option first as it worked for me.

Thanks for the help. I ended up deleting all the dial-up numbers and starting from scratch. Now I'll know what to do when I finally upgrade to DSL. Thanks again.

Had a similar issue. I have Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7. The error message recently started happening. As it turns out I also have ADSL installed; however the error didn't occur. The PC sharing the internet connection had the option set; 'Never dial out..'. I tried the suggestion to set the dial out option to never on the PC having this issue. The error no longer occurs.

Can't explain why it hadn't occurred previously.
