When installing a newer version of a program I keep getting the error
"Error: -1605 This action is only valid for products that are currently installed"
Google gave me some idea's - I installed the windows installer cleanup utililty and removed the installation, but continue to get the error. The program is not listed in add/remove programs or with the windows install cleanup utility.
I spent another 1/2 hour atleast looking through other google hits but didn't come up with anything.
The system is virus/malware free.
Any idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Jeff

I don't think anyone will know of the program... it's SLI/SIFT a program that sends cell phone reports to motorolla.

I would first check Motorola's website. If you can't find anything there, contact their Customer Support.
Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!

I have been communicating with a motorola rep and he said just to reinstall. Which obiously is not working. The website does not have any troubleshooting information on sli/sift. I thought it was maybe an error with the program itself but I believe it is a windows error.
I sent another email to the rep asking for some more information. Hopefully he will have a solution for me.
Thanks for your suggestions Jennifer.

I found this:

That article is for Windows Xp, I am using 2000. I will look into it and see if I can somehow get it to fix the prob or direct me to where I can get some more info. Thanks for the link.

Just an update:
Still having the same problem.. Other things I have tried
Installing as Admin
Shutting down all proceses not needed
Installing a new version of Install Shield
Installing a new install shield engineI am to the point where I am ready to do a fresh install of windows.
