Subject: enable fast start up!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Comment: Hello is there a way to make windows2000 start up faster. i have noticed the following line when the computer starts up: 1. first there is the white line "saying computer is starting up". 2. second is we see the start up logo and again says starting up. 3. third is again the starting up thing. 4. the fourth is logging on to windows. 5. fifth is loading personal settings these are the things that happens during the start up process. it's clearly very slow in comparison to windows me or windows98. there were solution such as editing the msdos file that we could enable to make win me or win 98 mite faster during start up . how about in win 2000. is there any solution..... i would much appreciate your help. the two things that happens during the startup process ------- 1. logging on to windows and 2. loading personal settings with reference to these above two lines is there a way to pehaps stop these during the startup process ..or if we could delete the reference to it-----if we could do such a thing. any help would be very great...... thanks. :-)

Reply: (edit)If it's an Active Directory server, expect some wait time, otherwise should be just as fast as 98. Also Post/Reply/Explore my forums/site (Homepage above) Thanks, Jesse

Reply: (edit)If you've got the HD space you could enable the hibernate function. Basically you'll need as much space as you have RAM.
